Happy 2-Week Birthday, Max!!

My nephew turns 2 weeks old today! He is eating, breathing and growing very well - we can already tell he is going to be a strong boy. Mike got to meet him last weekend. He had never been in a NICU before so he was wide-eyed and had to ask a thousand questions. It was very cute. John did a very good job of explaining everything, even using all these big medical terms he has become very familiar with these last couple weeks.

Max did open his eyes for us while we were there. They are a very deep blue. It will be interesting to see if they stay that color or not. This picture was taken by John several days ago, but the nurses have taken that tube out already. He's breathing regular room air now and doesn't need any help with oxygen tubes. It looks like he's trying to yank the tube out of his mouth!

He is already loved by many people who are showering him with gifts, and he doesn't even know it yet! Everyday Mike and I check the mail for new packages or open the door for food baskets or flower deliveries.

John and Colleen are very dedicated parents. They are at the hospital from morning to night but never have any complaints. He is a lucky boy to have such loving parents and grandparents and aunts and uncles!! Thanks to all of our friends for your thoughts and prayers - it is much appreciated!
